Brora Distillery was founded in 1819 in Brora, Scotland by the Marquess of Stafford (later the Duke of Sutherland). Known for its peated whisky, production ceased in 1983 and sporadically resumed in 2017. Brora uses traditional methods, including pot stills, malted barley, and predominantly uses ex-bourbon and sherry casks. An important fact is that Brora has a cult following among whisky enthusiasts for its limited releases of aged and highly sought-after whiskies.
