Bruichladdich Distillery was founded in 1881 on the Isle of Islay, Scotland by the Harvey brothers. It is currently owned by The Bruichladdich Distillery Co. Ltd. The distillery was closed multiple times since its foundation, the last time reopening in 2001. Bruichladdich uses traditional copper pot stills, locally sourced Scottish barley, and a variety of casks for maturation.
